Baffles are located near the top of the firebox within your wood burning stove or fireplace. They function in a way that traps the heated air and gases for longer periods of time, which keeps the heat in the stove and creating more thorough combustion while also increasing fuel efficiency as well as reducing smoke emissions. Baffles can be made of steel, vermiculite (or fibre board) or cast iron.
