Gas Grill Lava Rocks

7 lb. bag of natural lava rock.  Enough for a full-size gas grill.

When adding lava rocks to a gas grill you need to remove the heat shields that come inside the grill, get a rock grate that fits your grill, and then using the lava rocks make an even layer on the bottom under the cook grate on top of the rock grate. The layer of lava rocks will help retain heat while you are grilling, and will cut down fuel consumption as well.
